OVERVIEW

Municipal customers have a growing interest in being energy efficient in their homes and businesses. This interest can be mutually beneficial to both utility and customer alike because energy efficiency not only helps your utility meet the growing demands of your electric infrastructure while balancing capital cost improvements, but it is also a valuable economic development and customer relationship tool. DEMEC recognizes the value of having a utility lead energy efficiency program to offer those customers who are a valued business, or call with high bill complaints, or are frequently delinquent on payments.

In that recognition and with support of the Board, Efficiency Smart is the program delivered by DEMEC to our members. As a participating member, your community is providing customers with a number of cost saving, energy conserving benefits. This course is designed to help arm you with basic energy efficiency knowledge and allow you to gain in-depth knowledge of the Efficiency Smart program, its benefits, recent program updates and the value it represents to your customers.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY

  • Use appropriate terminology with customers
  • Articulate the basic components of the Efficiency Smart program
  • Describe how different components of the program work
  • Articulate general energy efficiency knowledge
  • Direct customers to online resources and program representatives
  • Better understand benefits of the program

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is for local utility committee members, council/board members, elected officials, customer service representatives and any utility employee who interacts with customers. Attendees will be able to share knowledge gained in this course with customers they encounter: small businesses, high bill complaints, frequently delinquent, new customers, and others.
